1. Certificate Course in Event Management
The Department of Commerce conducts a 3-month Certificate Course in Event Management, affiliated with Shivaji University’s Life Long Learning Center. This course aims to provide students with practical insights and professional skills required for organizing and managing events. It enhances employability and entrepreneurial abilities among commerce students.
2. Skill Development Center
The department runs a Skill Development Center which undertakes various hands-on training activities. These include:
- Jewelry making
- Handmade products
- Food item preparation
- Sewing and tailoring
- Time management workshops
- Soft skills training
These programs empower students, especially from rural backgrounds, to gain life skills and self-employment opportunities.
3. Placement Cell
The Placement Cell of the Commerce Department actively assists students in exploring job opportunities in different sectors. It organizes job fairs, invites companies for campus placements, and offers guidance for resume building and interviews, ensuring students are employment-ready.
4. 'My Library' – A Student-Run Library
The department houses a unique initiative called 'My Library', a library run entirely by students. Books are donated voluntarily by both teachers and students. This fosters a culture of sharing and responsibility, and encourages reading habits within the student community.
